RB260GS VLAN priority via ACL sanity check

Fri Nov 21, 2014 10:39 pm

We are using a pair of RB260GS switches to merge several VLANs into a single upstream to a remote router. We have several different "guest" VLANs (VLAN 20, 30 & 40) plus one "business VLAN" (VLAN 10). The traffic on the guest VLANs is quite variable, and sometimes adds unwanted latency to the business traffic.

So I thought it would help if I elevated the priority of the business VLAN. On this RB260GS, the business VLAN is on port 1 (trunk to the router), port 2 (downstream to another RB260GS), port 5 (secondary business building), and the SFP port (tertiary business building).

I think all I need to do is make an ACL rule that sets the VLAN priority for any outgoing VLAN 10 traffic to 1 (I think the default VLAN priority is 0). Like below.

Can someone who has messed with VLAN priorities confirm that this is the correct way to accomplish this?

Follow on the above.

How does the VLAN priority relate to the DSCP priority? Or does it?

A bit more detail in the documentation would be helpful.
