6.38.1 RSTP PROBLEM WITH ( CCR1009-7G-1C-1S + 2x CRS266-24G-2S+)

Mon Feb 20, 2017 12:01 am

I'm preparing the migration of main routers ans switches. For these we are using all with ROS6.38.1 with the latest software.

The final solution will be:

2xCCR1009 + 2xCRS266, conected with rstp to prevent when a siwcth is damaged and with VRRP to solve problem when a router is damaged.

At these moment we are trying with one CCR and the two CRS226. RSTP seems works fine while we test with conecting and disconecting cables. but when I test to power off one CRS and we are doing pings, while CRS is powered down all works fine, but when it restarts then appear a problems that have a duration time of 30 sec or minutes it depends.
  • - The main problem is that CCR began to have a lot of traffic, and the PC that is doing pings Freezzing. It seems that is that are producing loops.
  • - If we are seeing the Bridge properties of the CRS when it happens, the root cost path it is increasing 20,40,60,....
.
  • - In the CCR log appears that probably exists loops, but I don't understand because there are RSTP enabled
  • See atached log of CCR

In the logs of the CRS not appears these warning logs.

I tried a lot of things, but without finding the solution:
- Disable fast path in Bridge of CCR
- Change the forward delay of the CCR Bridge (but i don't understand very well how it works)
- Change the root bridge for the test.
- Do the same test without SFP+ port and only with Ethernet ports

The diagram that we are testing is:

CCR1009
Bridge-8002(eth1,eth2,SFP+)- Inside Trunks (VLANid9,VLANid7)

CRS226-DATASW1 - CRS-DATASW2 (SAME CONFIGURATION, only diferent IP and the Priority root bridge, DATASW1=7999, DATASW2=8001)
Port 7 (untaged vlan 7)
Port 8,9,10..14 (untagged vlan9)
Port 1,2,3,4,5,6,SFP+1,SFP+2 (tagged vlan7,vlan9)

Connections on test

CRS1009 eth2 --> DATASW2 eth 2
CRS1009 sfp+ --> DATASW1 SFP+1
CRS226 DATASW1 SFP+1 --> CRS1009 sfp+
CRS226 DATASW1 SFP+2 --> CRS226 DATASW2 SFP+1
CRS226 DATASW2 SFP+1 --> CRS226 DATASW1 SFP+2
CRS226 DATASW2 eth2 --> CRS1009 eth2
CRS226 DATASW2 eth7 --> PC with pinging to DATASW2,DATASW1,CCR

Procedure, PC is pinging DATASW1,DATASW2,CCR
Disconect power form DATASW1,see the ping is working after some few time
Reconnect power, when CRS226 is started, you will see that during some time all frezees and the ping not works some time, and the CCR you will see a lot of traffic and the fans will run.

Someone find these problem? Did you kown how to solve?

I review and test it with the latest RC 6.39rc33 and with these version the problem not exists. Thanks a lot.
