Help on router

Wed Feb 22, 2017 7:19 pm

Greetings, I am upgrading WIfi for a 20 room hotel and 320 seats restaurant. I will have 1 AP per room for the hotel where I want customers to have high bandwidth and a few on the restaurant with lower bandwidth. I plan on upgrading the ISP to 940 Mb/s download and 50Mb/s upload (The highest coax offering I can get here). The only experience I have with Mikrotik router is with an rb750G, which I think will be too weak for this project. On the router, I plan on doing vlans in the switch chip, with a few firewall rules, qos with many simple queues and a hotspot with user manager. Can anybody recommend a Mikrotik router that will be strong enough for this?

Thank you for your suggestion, I see that the CCR1009 seems to route much more quickly than the RB1100AHx2. However I wonder in my case, since my ISP speed will be capped at 1G, is the extra speed necessary? Also, the RB1100AHx2 has 2G of Ram instead of 1G for CCR1009, does that mean the RB can handle more simultaneous connections or does the CCR1009 beat it in every aspect?

I would go with the CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+ Dual power supply for Redundancy. Greater throughput and will allow you to expand in the future if you require. Remember you dont install what you need now. You plan ahead. The 1100ahx2 is great. What if you need at add tunnels, encryption, simple queues, mutiple vlans. Soon you would need an upgrade.
