EoIP tunnel ID

Thu Aug 20, 2009 11:54 am

Hello,

What is the maximum EoIP tunnel ID. I know on the license says unlimited !!!!
But is there a hardware limit or software based on the size of the variable that holds the EoIP ID.

Thanks,

Sotiris

From the manual:
Maximal count of EoIP tunnels is 65536.
The TunnelID maximum is probably the same, I will check

Hi Normis,

Thanks for the quick reply. Have you guys checked what is a stable number of EoIP's to have in a single router.
Wouldn't the system become unstable if it had 65536 EoIP tunnels on it ???
I know a router with 65536 is an overkill but if I have lets say 1000 EoIP's per box will it be in a possition to handle that ????

Of course that is the theoretical limit, I don't know how many tunnels actually could work. The resource usage is not big, but we haven't done any real-life tests. Why do you need so many tunnels?

I'm doing some tests.
