MT Hire

Wed Jun 09, 2010 2:43 pm

I have been asked to provide a wireless bridge to provide AV facilities for a conference for 3 days. Clear LOS 400 metres apart, to link 2 hotels.

What would be a fair european rate for the hire and temp installation?

thanks

Pity i'm not that rich Rich.

I can do it and price it, just was wondering what would be a fair and typical rate for the job inc. equipment hire and installation

Well, a bit more detailed information would be appreciated:
  • Do you have to stay for the whole three days?
  • What's your experience with this kind of installation?
  • What sort of hardware are you planning to use?
  • How long do you think it will take you to set up the typology?
The average hourly rate in central europe for a network engineer is between EUR 120.00 and EUR 200.00 (without the equipment).

Cheers,

As I tried to say before: It depends on your qualification.
Personally, I charge less than EUR 100 per hour for now, but I'm just a CCNA. Next year, I'll take CCNP classes and after that I intend to charge a lot more (certificates have to be paid :D).

But I know several companies that charge EUR 200 and more, 20% tax excluded! It all depends on how you do it and who you do it for...

Cheers,
gartoffel

The question is more 'what will they pay'.

i.e. what is it worth to them.

You can certainly quote 5 euros an hour if you like, and i'm sure they will accept it.

Maybe it'd be better to offer an all-in-price for the 3-day event ?

From their perspective, they just want to know what it will Cost them for the 3-day event, so they can work out what to charge their customer, just like you are.

Never feel (or allow anyone else to make you feel) that you are charging too much. If your service is worth it (to them), and they pay, then it's the right price.

Adrian Completely Agree

However Guys, this thread was created in March, I quoted in March a figure I felt appropriate for 3 days hire. I am now suprised that it is getting interest in August.

Still nobody put a figure on it.

Still nobody put a figure on it
Assumptions :-
1. No significant travel (local job)
2. Just link 2 hotels for 3 days @ 20mb/s each way
3. Guarantee connection for the whole 72 hours
4. Install/hire/takedown
5. No crane or climbing gear required
6. Insurance in place
7. All proper local authorisations in place

I'd have quoted about 1800 euros +VAT.

Kit would have been 2 antennae on each hotel with a 750G either end to do VRRP or probably just Bonding.

A local 'illegal' would do the same job, probably sucessfully, for about 300 euros, but without 3, 6 or 7.

Exactly the same price ?

Are you one of my long lost Twin Brothers ?

Are we both products of the Omni-Nerd breeding program ?

We might be spawned from the Linux XIV series !

(I tend not to need rebooting, and my PPP works fine.)
