Web proxy on the bridged interface?

Sun Dec 27, 2009 9:41 am

from manual from 2002:
http://74.125.155.132/search?q=cache:lq ... clnk&gl=us
Firewall is not involved when packets are passed from one bridged interface to another. But packets have to be translated by firewall destination NAT for transparent web-proxy to work. So, web-proxy is not going to work in transparent mode between bridge interfaces.
Since firewall can be used in bridged configuration now is it possible to have web proxy or dns cache running on bridged interface?
