High CPU Utilization

Wed Feb 17, 2010 9:14 am

Hello,

I am seeing in the System->Resources that the CPU utilization is high(30%) than it used to be(5%) usually and we were unable to login using Winbox tool as its taking ages to display each window/tab.

Is there any way we can identify what all individual processes is making up to the final being dispalyed....

Regards
Rakesh

1st - 30% is not high
2nd - do you connect using IP address? please double check and see if using ip address helps.
3rd - check your cabling

30% usage means that your CPU is 70% too fast :) it's not even using all available resources.

I am seeing that the Utilization of the CPU is kicking to 30% from 5% whenever I am logging in using Winbox as I was checking the same in the telnet session....once I logout from Winbox the CPU Util is coming down.

where is the problem exactly? it's normal. router does something, and CPU load increases slightly. no problem.

ROS isn't optimized to work well on multi core CPUs in my opinion.
