Max radios on rb600

Sun Mar 07, 2010 2:53 pm

What is the maximum recommended radios that can be installed on RB600? I have two of these and a daughterboard but, I'm somewhat apprehensive on using one of with 8 radios: 4 connected to panels and the other 4 for ptp links. I don't know if is a good idea to do this or not.

Any suggestions.

I recommend using 4 radios max. If you must, use 5. What cards do you plan to use? Remember that RB600 can deploy 25W for extension cards.

I was thinking of using four r2 for distribution and four r52n for ptp links. Right now I have a rb600 with 6 radios: 4 r2's and 2 r52n's and would like to add two more...

By R2 you mean Ubiquiti SR2?

If it is Ubiquiti SR2 then their max power consumption is 4.8W.
So:
4x SR2 = 19.2W
4x R52N = 9.6W
= 28.8W which is too much for RB600. It will probably work unstable. Of course this is max power consumption (under max load, but you must calculate it like that).

If you have 4x SR2 and 2x R52n then you need 24W of power. As I wrote before, 25W should be considered as a max value of RB600.

MT R2, Power consumption MAX 2.4W. Ok, I get the idea: consider 25W as max value. I'll keep that in mind.

There is no such card as R2. There is R2n :) I assume that's the card right?
