Use a NAS to store web proxy cache data?

Hi there,
Is it possible to use an external NAS to store web proxy cache date rather than using a flash card/internal HD on a RouterBoard?
If so, could someone please brief me on the main steps to achieve such a setup.

not sure if we could store cache to NAS.
Do you have try to setup squid as your proxy?
