package loss measuring on bandwidth test

Wed Jun 23, 2010 3:13 pm

I need a way to find our how the overall quality is of the total link between my customer and my border gateway.
They are some 6 nodes away with at least 4 wireless links in between.

I can run a bandwidth test between them, it tells me the possible bandwidth.
I can run a ping test, it tells me the latency between the units.
On EACH of the wireless links I can do the same tests and I can see in the CCQ or hw frames readings how many package get lost on that specific link.

But I would like to know the overall package loss in the total link.
So a sort of CCQ but then for the whole link where the bandwidth test is running on.

Anybody knows of a way to do that? It all has to be done remotely. So basically it should be an add-on utility in the bandwidth test program?

Maybe we should make it an new add-on request for the new ROS beta versions.

maybe 'pathping' in Windows, or 'mtr' in Linux?
