POE Voltage Drop

Tue Sep 21, 2010 7:57 pm

Hi
.
I have a run of approx 70 metres. Would an rb433 be able to run on an 18v 1 amp supply or should i Go for 24 or 48 v, using standard cat5e solid cable UTP.

The rb433 has a requirement of between 10 and 28 volts dc

Your voltage drop won't be more than 2 volts so you should be fine. 24vdc would also work well. You cannot use 48 volts without a dc/dc converter to drop the voltage under 28.

The real question is how much power do you need? What radio card are you using? Can you run the radio cards and rb433 with 15vdc and slightly less than 1 amp? You have about 14 watts available.
