Bridging two /24 networks

Mon Nov 01, 2010 3:28 pm

I have eoip connection bridging two /24 networks (10.12/24 and 10.13/24). As, each network is in its own range they do not see each other.

As I have DHCP on both networks, I tried to set DHCP server network to netmask /23, but Mikrotik does not allow that. I guess, more that 253 nodes in network is too much for dhcp.

So, how do I bridge them? Is it neccessary to use narower IP range for each network so they fit in one single /24 range?

There are no network size limitations in DHCP server. So you have to change ip address and netmask on an interface where dhcp server is running, extend DHCP address pool and change DHCP network

I did all that, but when I try to change network range for DHCP network, Winbox allows mask /24 and less. If I try to set network /23 or /22, it does not allow me to do that.

I tried to use netmask field, but after I set mask /23 there and submited change (using winbox), dhcp issued leases but using 255.0.0.0 mask instead of 255.255.254.0. Pretty strange.

I have same happening on MT 3.30 and MT 4.5.

Silly me. :)

I tried to set network 10.13/23 but MT insisted that it should be 10.12/23 which is correct.
