VPLS with a Dynamic IP

Wed Dec 01, 2010 9:42 am

Hi All,

I've been reading up as much as I can on VPLS, as it seems to be the best solution to meet my requirement of an ethernet-based VPN over a WAN.

In my scenario, the users (clients) will have dynamic IP addresses assigned to them from the PPPoE session (RouterOS doesn't control this).

I have a server running RouterOS 4.13 with L4 license that will act as a VPLS terminator, but I'm concerned that the solution in theory won't work as the clients are dynamic - or will it?

I'd appreciate any feedback or advice or comments on the above scenario as VPLS really does look like the way forward, but I'm concerned about the dynamic IP part.

Many thanks
Doug
