Switching from DHCP to PPPoE

Mon Mar 21, 2011 9:00 pm

Hi to all, I have a natted network with 250 customers actually (the lists grows from 5 to 10 customers weekly) and I´ve been watching options to improve my network performance, one of them is moving to PPPoE.

I would like to know which are the beneficts in moving all my static dhcp clients into PPPoE, mainly because I would like to buy some Radius Software, like Radius Manager from DMA SoftLab, and the works with PPPoE sessions or Mikrotik Hotspot, and I don´t use either.

One thing to make note, is that if I change to PPPoE I will have to change all my clients config and I supose that is a hard work, but is better do it with 250 customers than doing with 500+.

I have my network layout well defined, if you think that can help I can post it

Thanks a lot, I really need advice with this setup.

Hi,

I know this is an old post, just wondered if you ever moved from dhcp to pppoe and get it working with DMA Radius, as i am at that stage now. I have just added some customers using dhcp, and trying to link the mikrotik upto DMA.

Any info would be appreciated.
