I had that missing firmware as well before. Either upgrade again and see, or do netinstall.

Re: RouterOS 5.1 is out!

Tue Apr 12, 2011 8:38 pm

Upgraded an rb800 from 4.17 with 2.30 firmware to 5.1 and radio board is completely unstable. It drops pings to the router it is plugged into has Kernel failures. Found "" as the current firmware and after a reboot it would show 2.30 and after another reboot it showed 2.29. had to take it to 4.17 after it hard locked and had to go powercycle it at a tower. Ticket submitted.

Had similar issues with another rb800.
The 2 RB800's that are giving me problems both have child AP's off a dedicated card using WDS.

I found that if I change the child AP to station WDS the reboots and dropped packets stop. I'm not using NV2. Just straight .11A
I upgraded about 5 other APs to 5.1 with no issues the same time yesterday but none of them are using a WDS bridge.

Hope this helps MT guys, please advise.

Aha!
The problems I had with Hotspot on bridge (ports=wlan+ether) is also that the wlan is on WDS with another AP-bridge...
Maybe that is the issue... WDS!

So is anyone using 5.1 with WDS and VLAN over it?... Ap Bridge>Bridge, Bridge>Bridge, AP Bridge> WDS Slave, Bridge>WDS slave? If so Board and Cards?

When issuing /export on the terminal it's completely locks up the terminal, both inaccessible on serial terminal or the winbox terminal, also cpu load goes sky rocket into 100% and stay on this state forever unless a hard-reboot(plugging off the power manually), iam on 450g.
Yet the internet access, filtering & logging pretty lag down to 5-15% when this happening.

Flashfig and webfig are also broken with 5.1

webfig seems to work perfectly on 5.0

Thank you very much for the reports about sup-output and /export.
We have found the problem and working on the fix, it will be fixed in the next RouterOS version.

5.1 also definately have a problem with bridging.
I have RB493AH
to
SXT via LAN port
the SXT have bridge with the LAN and wlan as ports, connecting to a RB493AH+R52Hn

Ping times even to LAN is erratic, from 5-20ms, ave 15ms.
Winbox times out/disconnect every few minutes.
SXT is just a link between the two routers, the 'local' one via LAN, the 'remote' one with wlan.
removed the bridge, made two subnets and just routed it and all is fine, LAN pings 0 or 1 ms again.

Also a small bug with MAC telnet.
If I IP telnet and then close window, try to MAC telnet, it gives error MAC TELNET 192.168.0.2 (last IP), bad address. So it it trying to use the previous IP as a MAC address, not the MAC I typed in.

I 2nd this. I was having ether pings drop and kernel failures on an AP when it had a WDS bridge off one of the cards. Switched child to station WDS rather than WDS slave and all problems went away. MT please give us some assistance with a fix! Thanks!

I agree. 5.1 should not be used on an 800. I am going back to 5.0 I have 4 APs that have had Kernel failures. Not good not good at all.

5.1 on a 750G

Connect via ssh/telnet and type "interface ethernet switch ?" and ALL(!) ssh/telnet sessions will freeze instantly.
No new ssh/telnet session possible, traffic keeps flowing through the box. Only solution I've found so far is to power-cycle the box. Can anyone confirm this behaviour?

In version 4 the torch window had a separate column for dest and src ports. Since version 5 it is combined with the address. When you use torch to research connections, it is very hard to see what is going on because of that.

Is it possible to add back the the two columns so that the ports can be displayed clearly and sorted by?

We asked this before and were told that Mikrotik would look into it. I talked with other users and they all seem to agree that it is missing.

Just copy the downloadlink for your device, paste it in your browser and change the version "by hand", e.g. from http://download.mikrotik.com/routeros-mipsbe-5.1.npk to http://download.mikrotik.com/routeros-mipsbe-5.0.npk and press enter.

Just upgrade my RB1100 with v5.0 and try webfig.
the configuration only "ip dhcp-client" and "system ntp-client"
and the traffic on the eth interface quite high (about 100K); not like what normis show us on MUM in Jakarta. I watch it about 5 minutes and it still stay above 100K and no winbox loaded.

Just had an issue where RB493AH after about 5 days uptime with ROS5.1 stopped responding i.t.o. login.
Could not log in via Winbox, Telnet, SSH nor API.
Traffic still flowed though.
Subsequently could not make new supout and a road trip followed by hard-reboot was only option.
I see there is an autosupout, sending to support...

Just need to be sure - can I upgrade from 4.1x using wireless-nv2 package to 5.1 without having to install wireless package separately?

We had this problem before when upgrading - if wireless-nv2 was running the upgrade to 5.xxRC ignored it leaving wireless disabled.

This is exactly what happened to me (5.1 on RB450G) just I did not realize that in fact the last command was interface ethernet switch ?

Those rules would also block all return traffic to 192.168.1.114, since the source IP of a return packet would be whatever 192.168.1.114 contacted in the first place. Either also allow all traffic with dst-address=192.168.1.114, or - preferably - higher up accept all traffic with a connection-state=established and connection-state=related.

The same here in serial console, ssh and winbox terminal too. Profiler says the "console" process is eating up the CPU.
Additionally I have the bridging problem (very slow LAN-LAN speed [~8 Mbits/s on gigabit]). Hardware switching speed is about 220 Mbits/sec instead of full line speed.

When trying to run a snooper from the Wireless Tables interface dialog (v5.1 and 5.0), RB800 reboots and first log message after reboot is "System rebooted because of kernel failure"

This does NOT occur when the individual wireless interface is opened and the snooper is run from there. It only occurs when the Wireless snooper button shown below is used.

Image

Webfig does not get to login screen when trying to load on this RB800. Using version 4.0 Firefox.

I have reverted to 5.0, will await 5.2 :)

I cannot create a supout.rif because console process hangs during creation. I think it's related to the console bug mentioned before.

The throughput bug can be reproduced by creating a bridge that contains all ethernet interfaces except ether1 which is the WAN port. The WAN-LAN connection is working properly (the internet connection's maximum speed can be reached, in my case ~20 Mbits/sec), but LAN-LAN speed is below 5 Mbits/sec between two hosts that are connecting via gigabit line.
The switching speed problem can be reproduced by setting up slave ports (ether3-ether5) and ether2 as a master port. In this case the ether1 was removed from the hardware switch and used as WAN port. The maximum LAN-LAN speed with this setup was ~250 Mbits/sec. With the legacy ROS (4.10) it was ~600 Mbits/sec with bridging.
