Conclusions with ROS 5.xx data drop outs bad throughput etc

Mon May 02, 2011 12:35 am

After several days of errors and problems in regard to ROS 5.xx on RB1100 and RB433's

Our main issue was ping timeouts and watchdog reboots to neighboring routerboards after ROS 5.xx upgrades. We have been through all the "stable" (LOL) 5.xx release and we have choosen to stick with 5.0. We are forced to stay with 5.xx due to the need for tdma on a couple links that saved our butts.

Logs were reporting several ethernet down and up entries on almost all boards... We have seemed to stabalize the issues by forcing the links on half duplex auto off.. Any and all other settings create multiple link disconnects and bad data throughput..

Just an FYI for others that might me ripping there hair out with similar issues with these latest "Stable" ROS 5.xx releases. Ihave read several posts with ppl having data issues or drop outs etc.

Hope this helps... Ons day,, maybe ONE DAY.. MT will release a "stable" version of there software where the word STABLE translates to the actual definition of the word one would assume means STABLE!

CORRECTION.. Bandwidth is stable with settings at half duplex auto off, but it still locks up for a second causing the watchdog reboots......... Grrr
