Web Proxy Server on Satellite and tcpwindow sizing

Wed Jun 08, 2011 4:09 pm

Hi, I manage a multipoint meshed dedicated satellite network where average latency is 550mS from point to point.
I currently have a squid proxy server at one site to share internet over. In recent times that server is playing up, and I have been considering replacing the whole server with something like a mikrotik 750G utalizing its web proxy server capability. There is not much use of the internet over it, and I'm not caring too much about cache capability. The uplink bandwidth out of the proxy site is currently set at 256kbps. My question is, does the mikrotik require changing the tcpwindow size for optimum performance for such a system. ? Can the mikrotik change its window sizes ? Or have lost the plot with all the info I have read on the internet !!.
