PPPoE over multiple vlans - Help

Tue Jun 14, 2011 9:39 pm

Hi, I have a need to have a single PPPoE server (or multiple processes) on X number of L2 vlans on a trunk port.

For example, I have X vlans (between 10 and 30) on a single trunk port (ether3 on a RB450G running ROS5.4)

First of all, we've gotten it working on a single vlan or single physical interface, but we need to do the following and can't quite get there.

I want to be able to either:
put them all in one pppoe server instance, and be able to tell what username came in on what vlan, and assign them all (regardless of vlan) to the same ip pool

put them in different instances, so I can tell where tehy came from by the servicename, and again, assign them regardless of vlan to the same IP pool.

Can this be done? It's for DSL termination of PPPOE clients, and if I have to split this up into 48 IP chunks per vlan, this is not going to scale well in terms of utilization of IP's.
