493Ah’s strange loss of connectivity + ospf issue

Mon Oct 24, 2011 4:20 pm

I have a routed network no bridging and in my network which is 100% MT,

I noticed with just two 493Ah boards,

One (running OS 5.6) has/had on test at the moment was reporting every few days loss of ospf route to a ptp link on one port /30 and after a while the 493 would lose connectivity but strange login from the wlan side to the ptp 433ah and winbox would display no connectivity (R) on Ethernet port 1 which is also POE (24volts), replaced the rj45 connectors both ends but still after a few days ospf + lose connectivity?

Second was running OS 3.30 had a sudden loss of connectivity to the wlan side of a ptp, after several reboots and checking still no connectivity so I upgraded this 493 to 5.6 and still no luck, so I just disabled wireless package as it’s not used in the 493 and would you believe connectivity issue disappeared – strange as I always thought that disabling un-used packages would just improve performance but in this case it solved a connectivity issue, it remains if disabling wireless on the first one will solve the ospf issue.

What OSPF configuration you have on wireless links. Is it set to NBMA?

Using 10.X.X.29/30 for wlan and ethernet 10.X.X.33/30 then in OSPF network backbone= 10.X.X.28/30 and 10.X.X.32/30

Not using NBMA should it be used?

Yes, it should be NBMA.
