Core Router location

Sat Nov 05, 2011 9:07 pm

I have a basic question regarding remote install of our core router RB1200.

The data center where our backbone connection will be is where we would like to install it and vpn to it for authentication.
from our office location. Is this an accepted approach verses a backhaul to our office location

Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you :?

That's basically a preference / policy for your company to decide. If it is secure at your data center, and that's where you are comfortable with it, then that is fine. Just make sure you have physical access to the building it is located at in case you ever need to get to it in an emergency.

Thanks for the reply

Could you detail a topology of locations for Core router at data center-radius server billing server at our office.

It would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

As long as there is stable network connections, you can put your server anywhere you want. You will put the IP address of the radius server into the mikrotik. There are no rules about where you can put your equipment. Every company is different. Do what works for you, that is the great thing about networks... you can put many of your devices anywhere on the network that you want to.

Just make sure they are physically secure, they are on a good stable network connection (and power), and that you have 24/7 physical access to them in case you have an emergency during the night and have to access them.
