I have a VLAN which is part of a bridge (bridge has no other interfaces), where is a PPPoE server and on the same Bridge there is a PPPoE client.
This was the simplest way to interconnect with friendly ISP and give Internet to someone over their network.

Could this combination of PPPoE server and client be causing crashes again?

As Far As I Remember I have experienced crashed with PPPoE Server and Client on same interface before.

you can not run pppoe server and pppoe client in the same interface.

Why not? It looks like it is running just fine. PPPoE-Client connects to ANOTHER PPPoE server with another name.
