Reported interface speed for wireless fixed at 11Mbps

Wed Feb 01, 2012 5:59 pm

I fetch traffic utilization from various Mikrotik devices. There are thresholds in the monitoring systems that will give % utilization based on the maximum interface speed. Wireless interfaces report themself as 11mbps:

.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.5.1 = Gauge32: 11000000

This is on links that can and do go a lot faster. Is there a way to override this speed on wireless interfaces? In cisco this would be similar to the 'bandwidth' command. I see that Ethernet interfaces on Mikrotik have a 'Bandwidth tx/rx' setting but I don't see this on wireless.

I've noticed similar issues with various tunnel interfaces (EoIP, IPIP, etc.) where the reported bandwidth is fixed at 128kbps. I agree, it would be very nice to be able to set this manually.

This would be helpful for my organization too.

Since the max rate can be above or below 11Mbps it would make sense this MIB object could be configurable to match.
