Hotspot goes red

Wed Mar 14, 2012 1:39 pm

I have my router(no mikrotik) with the ip 192.168.1.1. also I have a network with 3-4 pcs and the ips are 192.168.1.2-5. That network is connected to eth1 mikrotik (493ah) port with ip 192.168.1.24. then i make a hotspot on eth3 port with ip 192.168.89.1 is connected to an AP with ip 192.168.89.2.

I want from the network 192.168.1.0 to ping the ap and the computers on the network 192.168.89.0.

my configuration is the screenshot 2. with this configuration from a pc with ip 192.168.1.3 I can ping until the eth3 port of the routerboard but not the ap which is connect it to eth3.

now i add in my bridge the eth3. when i did that i can ping the ap but the hotspot goes red and its not working and the nat rules disappears.(screenshot1)

I attached some screenshots from routes and bridges.
Thank you

You have the hotspot on ether3 and another network on ether1. So far, no trouble.
You want to route between them. So far, no trouble.

When you bridge ether1 and ether3, the hotspot can't work on ether3 and goes red.
Don't bridge them, why would you? You want to route between these networks and use firewall rules, correct?

If you do put ether3 on a bridge with other hotspot ports, put the hotspot and ip address on the bridge, not the port.

When a device is behind a hotspot, you won't be able to access it - it can't respond - it is stuck in the hotspot.
You may see it in
/ip hotspot host print
Either bypass it
/ip hotspot ip-binding add type=bypass mac-address=blah etc etc....
or allow access using walled garden, etc.

If you are using winbox, you can bypass the host by clicking on the host entry and select "Make Binding". Be sure to set the "type" to "bypassed"
