how to open a .backup file

Thu Mar 15, 2012 8:00 pm

Hi
We have a mikrotik.backup file that we must inspect. We are trying to trace ips and accessed sites.
1- Is it possible to be in the .backup file?
2- Is there a way to open this file without mount a mikrotik server? How can we see the data from the .backup ???

Thanks.

No you cannot open and view a .backup file it is binary. To create a backup that you can open you need to use the export option. This will create an export file in the files list.
/export file=NAME-OF-DEST-FILE
