USB Port Clash - Help Anybody? This post is 3 weeks old....

Tue May 29, 2012 6:32 pm

I'm attempting to create a config that will allow me to reboot a router remotely via SMS.

So far so good, I'm receiving SMS's and I have a script (below) that I intend to modify to do the reboot part for me.
(This script: http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php ... 68#p312202 )

BUT

I have this problem.

My ppp (3G) data connection seems to be hogging the channel for itself. I have 5 available ports, 0 through 4.
( Using a sierra card, not USB modem )

My 3G connections works only if my ppp-out1 Data Channel = 3.
And, my incoming SMS's are only visible in my SMS Inbox if my SMS config is set to use Channel 3.

So both need to use channel 3. :?

I cannot activate my SMS's receive-enabled when my ppp-out1 is enabled and vice versa, I get an error stating: "could not acquire serial port"

Temporarily disabling my 3G (ppp) connection in order to scan for new SMS's is not an option as the 3G connection is a mission-critical interface.

I know my cellphone can send/receive data & SMS simultaneously with this SIM, so the problem is not with the SIM card.

Any ideas?
