I would like to thank those that helped me figure out the static routing.......Thanks
Next Problem: Getting Winbox to discover through a router.
Setup, Mikrotik routerboard 433, ether1 - IP=172.20.30.10/16: Laptop connected to ether1 - IP=172.20.30.200/16 with default gateway=172.20.30.10
ether2 - IP=192.168.0.1/24: Connected to a wireless network with over 20 Mikrotik boards and wireless modules, all of them are addressed in the 192.168.0.0/24 range with default gateway of 192.168.0.1
I have added the routes: Dst. Address=172.20.0.0/16, Gateway=ether1, pref src=192.168.0.1
and Dst. Address=192.168.0.0/24, Gateway=ether2, pref src=172.20.30.10.
I can ping all the routerboards on the 192.168.0.0/24 network, and every routerboard on the 192.168 network can ping the 172.20.30.200 laptop.
The purpose of setting this up is to isolate the wireless network from the LAN which is 172.20.0.0/16 network. Which this setup has accomplished.
Problem is that now the admin cannot sit at his desktop on the 172.20 network and access the radios on the 192.168 network via Winbox. He has to go to the NOC and plug into the 192.168 network to work on any devices with Winbox.
I would like to get Winbox to discover and function through the router, which is also Mikrotik.
I have tried src-nat, and dst-nat where I set the protocol to UDP, will not discover.
I have tried firewall rules as well, still unable to discover.
I have been reading about PPP, and IP tunneling, but not sure if that is the answer.
So here I am, posting in the forums.
Has anyone run into this before? Does anyone know how to get Winbox to discover through a router? Is this even possible?
On top of all that, I'm doing this as a favor for a friend......because no good deed goes unpunished
