VPN Issue

Fri Aug 17, 2012 4:19 pm

Hi,

i am using Router OS v5.4. i am not able to ping any machine at remote network after connecting VPN (PPTP).
here is the setup in brief:

Router OS has 6 Interfaces. 3 for WAN (ISP) connection and 2 used for LAN. 1 not used.
for LAN i am using 192.168.0.x/24 and 192.168.1.x/24 subnet.

for WAN(ISP) are configured for load balancing as given in this URL http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Load_Bala ... e_Gateways

Problem that i have.
i have configured the PPTP VPN for connecting from home. i am able to connect to vpn and IP address is also assigned. works fine.
BUT when i try to ping/access any machines in office network, it is not working. NOT ABLE TO PING/ACCESS.

Kindly help to resolve this issue.

Kind Regards,

According to http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Interface/PPTP:
At this point (when pptp client is successfully connected) if you will try to ping any workstation form the laptop, ping will time out, because Laptop is unable to get ARPs from workstations. Solution is to set up proxy-arp on local interface

Just a passing thought. Is your load-balancing causing issues?

what address? do you use separate subnet for VPN users? if not - then do it :)

All,

thanks for all your support and help. The issue is resolved. things works just fine.

I had missed a route. after adding the route, selecting the routing mark things started working fine.
