ECMP Check Gateway Problem

Tue Oct 16, 2012 2:32 am

Dear Friends, I have the next scenario: 10.10.10.0/24--------R1-------------R2-----------20.20.20.0/24.
The link between R1 and R2 is through Ether1 in both routers. Ether1 has two vlans: Vlan10 and Vlan20 in both routers.
Vlan 10 is 30.30.30.0/24 and Vlan 20 is 40.40.40.0/24.
10.10.10.0/24--------R1-----VLAN10:30.30.30.0/24--------R2-----------20.20.20.0/24.
****************************-----VLAN20:40.40.40.0/24--------
I have added: ip route add gateway=30.30.30.2,40.40.40.2 check-gateway=ping for R1 and ip route add gateway=30.30.30.1,40.40.40.1 check-gateway=ping For R2. The problem is that when I disable VLAN10 in R1, I cannot reach 20.20.20.0/24 from 10.10.10.10.0/24 and vice versa. In router table of R1 appears 20.20.20.0/24 is unreachable via 30.30.30.2 but reachable via 40.40.40.2; however, in R2 routing table appear 10.10.10.0/24 is reachable via 30.30.30.1 and 40.40.40.1.What do you think I forgot to set up? check-gateway does not work? Thaks for your answers.
