IMG file for flashing to disk

Wed Oct 24, 2012 4:48 pm

Is anybody interested in an IMG file of the RouterOS installation? This would mean you can use DD or Windows Disk image writer, to shoot the IMG file directly to your CF card, or external disk, then boot from it, and instllation will commence. No more CD or Netinstall needed (Netinstall basically has the same ability built in, but you must be able to run Netinstall)

If you think this is great, let us know, we will add it to the download page as standard.

I use this method - its faster and more predictable. This will be the install stage - fat32 with the npk files right?

Why isn't there one for v6.0rc6? At least I can't find it.
I had no problems with the image file you provided for v6.0rc5 by the way!

Edit: Oh, I just noticed the changelog says
*) fixed problem - netinstall for x86 did not work;
Maybe the image file is superfluous now...

During upgrade of the download page (you can see that it looks differerent now), we have lost the image link. Sorry, we will fix it. For now, here is the link:

http://download2.mikrotik.com/routeros/ ... 6.0rc6.zip

dd if=install-image-6.13.img of=/dev/sdb
but my sdcard won't boot the ROS.

i did try to install from the iso file into the same sdcard but still no luck

AFAIK the image file is for the x86 architecture.
The RPI has an ARM processor core.
So this is not possible.

@normis: Maybe the image file name should include the architecture for which it was built in its file name.
