a better netwatch?

Mon Oct 29, 2012 10:30 am

Hi.

Netwatch is a cool tool in ros, but is there a way that they can add a ping x amount of times before determining a down or up, because I get false reports from some remote NAS devices, because my 3g provider drops its 2 first packets sometimes, its probably a type of standby on tower or something weird

It depends on what action Netwach is taking after the ping status. Generally speaking, you have to look for a script.
Also, the ping utility is usufull:
/ping 10.10.10.10 count=5

dammmmmm..... "Notify me when a reply is posted" should be on by default

sorry for late reply

that "/ping 10.10.10.10 count=5" looks cool, but how can I implement it with netwatch, because I'm using 8.8.4.4 for my online watch and when that ping drops, it swaps WAN's and then all my NAS devices drop for a couple of minutes due to the fake offline trigger

As I said, netwatch is designed to execute a script in case ping fails or ping is up. You need to associate the netwatch utility with a script. I am not sure what you are trying to achieve, but if you are looking for a failover solution, check this page:
