DHCP Client bug in 5.26

Mon Oct 14, 2013 11:44 pm

I have a strange situation here. I've noticed since I upgraded to 5.26 the cablemodem connection drops randomly. The drop lasts for only a second but it's enough to cut all sessions (like internet radio, all downloads, IRC, etc).

In the logs there's an error about "dhcp lease stopped locally". I thought this might be related to the cablemodem. I called the ISP and they say my modem's been online for days, but I have an abnormally high number of DHCP requests.

So I downgraded to 5.25 and the problem went away.

Hardware is RB750G. I have an RB751U-2HnD in another location, with the same ISP but a different cablemodem (mine's a motorola, the other is a scientific atlanta), and it doesn't have that error.

Is this happening to anyone else?

No.

You don't have another dhcp server in your network?

It's a standard "soho router" configuration. DHCP client WAN-side, DHCP server LAN-side.
