Hi,

I am trying to set up a system logger for use with an RB751 router. I have followed the instructions for setting up remote logging on the RB751, but can't receive any logs with the WhatsUpGold logger. The Mikrotik router and my Windows 7 computers are on the same network: 192.168.1.0/24.

Here is the set up for the MT router:
Can someone give me a hint about where to start?

I have:
set 3 bsd-syslog=yes name=remote remote=10.0.0.3 remote-port=514 src-address=10.0.0.1 syslog-facility=daemon syslog-severity=auto target=remote

It works fine with Syslog Watcher 4

I got logging to work on my local area network by making the recommended changes.

I can't seem to get it to work with a Mikrotik RB751 with a public IP address.

Can someone give me a hint?

I can work with public ip or internal lan without problems, just changing the Dest. IP. May be a problem with firewalls?

I got it to work!

It was a problem with protocol in my RB750 router connected between my LAN and the public internet. I had it set to tcp instead of udp. When I changed to udp, it started working.
