Simple static routing & Hotspot

Tue Dec 03, 2013 4:40 pm

Hello,

we've setup a simple static routing between a router A (internet gateway & hotspot server) with a local subnet 10.0.0.0/24 and router B with a local subnet 10.0.10.0/24. The routing works just fine. Router A has 10.0.0.1 and router B 10.0.0.2.
As long as the hotspot is disabled everything is allright, as soon as it is enabled clients coming from 10.0.0.2 get caught by the server and seem to valid but as soon as the client logs in it becomes apparent that thats not the case.

For example the client 10.0.10.254 coming from 10.0.0.2 will end up in the /ip hotspot hosts with router B's MAC address and the ip will flap between 10.0.10.254 and 10.0.0.2.

Is there a way to get the real MAC and IP address for each client from router B?

Best regards

No, they're in a different broadcast domain and MAC addresses will not flow from domain 10.0.10.0 to 10.0.0.0. You need to create 2 hotspots or bridge the 2 networks.
