Need help with a redirect loop

Sun Feb 16, 2014 1:10 am

Hi folks,

I am trying to use sustain my free vpn by using adf.ly advertisement. I have run into a redirect snag.

Lets say a users wants to go to hulu.com. He gets diverted to an ad on adf.ly. (-by a redirect rule on webproxy). After the user waits for 5 sec on adf.ly, he gets diverted to hulu.com by adf.ly.

In my case (-VPN Traffic), it becomes a redirect loop as the firewall re-detects the outgoing domain name again (which is hulu.com) and redirects it to adf.ly

Is there any other way to accomplish this? Like giving users a time cookie, so for each users it is redirected only once.

Many thanks in advance folks.

Cheers

Can you be more specific about your problem, please? Can you post the config that you are current using?

You should activate the Hotspot feature for mikrotik. It has an option to show and advertisement on a specified time. Say every 30 minutes users browsing the web will be redirected to an advertisement page you have entered on the config.

Thanks nerdtron. I found that feature. I waited for time to expire but nothing happened. Is there anything else I need to do besides ticking the box? See attachment.

Got it working. I had to enable transparent Proxy on the Hotspot User Profiles.
