No record of ICMP traffic on interfaces in 6.11

Wed Mar 26, 2014 6:57 pm

Not sure if this is actually an issue, but thought I should put it out here in case anyone else is seeing something similar. Customer has a Comcast modem with 5 static IPs; pinging them I get a response, and see the traffic while torching, but I do not see the traffic increment the ICMP rule in the firewall. Removing the IPs, disabling all firewall filters and NAT, and I still see a response for the ping. Waiting to hear back from Comcast on whether it's on their end. This is a somewhat new install, and they are using an RB450G with 6.11.

That sounds like a Comcast issue.

Mikrotik cant respond to those pings if it doesnt terminate those IPs.
Comcast modem probably always responds to the ICMP to those IPs, even when something else is terminating them.

Most likely it is a gateway device, not just a modem. It does a 1 to 1 NAT for the static IPs. I would check the settings on it to disable all firewall rules and ICMP handling so that way the 450G will see the traffic.
