hAP lite housing

Fri Sep 04, 2015 3:35 pm

Looks like the enclosure has been redesigned:

Looks much nicer, more consumer. Is the plan to roll out this new look and feel across all models?

If people also like it in person, we will consider new design also for other products. Which ones would you like to see first to be redesigned?

It would be nice for mikrotik to make a difference between consumer grade and professional grade.
This could be possible by making 2 specific cases.

The white rackmount CCR en CRS are the proffesional gear.
The new hAP lite design for All the consumergrade gear.

And why all the new names for the Routerboards?
Just keep it like this for example:
CCR: Pro router
CRS: Pro switch
RB: home router(with or without wlan)
(c/w/m)AP: Any kind of accespoint

I am voting for stability, functionality and price. Not for loosing the resources for design changes of old devices.

I like the look of the new hAP lite case, but personally I prefer something that can rack mount, wall mount, or sit flat on a shelf. However for the hAP lite target market I think it's ideal.

But please, dont make the hAP Pro this upright design.

I think it's horrible - looks like cheap tp-link :?
Please, at least do not put hAP ac in such case...

We attach a sticker on top of the hAP lite we give to our customers, like in this picture:

With the new design we have to re-think our stickers or to switch to the more expensive hAP.

It would be nice if it's possible to order the hAP lite with the traditional plastic case.

EDIT: we can't use the hAP, there is a different number/displacement of ethernet ports.

I haven't bought an ac Airport Extreme precisely because I don't want a tall unit.

I don't like it either.

Can't wall mount it, and its vertical design seems a lot less space efficient to me.

I guess it's a refreshing idea considering the target market, but please keep shipping the old model too.

It should just be a parallelepiped with a removable foot, like some external hard drives.

I think this design is fine for home users, they expect small pretty devices that don't stick out in the home.

For smb/pro a redesigned casing for hAP AC and other mid range products have wall mount capability and focus on functionality over aesthetics. The current casings are a bit dated but realistically in the professional space they are generally devices that are seen less often so it's not a big issue.

I like the venting design on the hAP lite picture (triangle design like the ccr's) but i think lose the acrylic outsides + stand and stick with a more simple outer sides while retaining the mount points like the existing cases.

+1000 for Wall mountable.

Without wall mounting sockets I have to switch to hap AC lite which is double the money that the hAP lite. Please Mikrotik consider to have both the old version and the newest!!

yay for compat, generic, small "bricks" with uniform coloring(without extremes in) :-)
thats why i particulary like both HEX and HAP ac and their cases - simple&neat/practical, yet cute.
and in SOHO more wall-mountability Rule too, yep
