When will be RB3011UiAS-2HnD-IN available?

Hi, folks.

Every day I visit RouterBOARD website and my local networking store hoping to see RB3011UiAS-2HnD-IN.
It's very attractive product for me. Sometimes it shows me in a dream and when I wake up, realizing that it still isn't marketed nowhere, I cry... Please, anyone.. any info? How long does it remain to wait? Will be the product released in February or in March 2016? Please, don't keep silence...

I've been waiting since august, so I was pretty excited to see the normal RB3011 released. Now I've been waiting for desktop version ever since!

I got tired of waiting guys. So I ordered and stripped down first batch of 3011RM (something like 2 months ago), put it into a 2011 housing (paradox, I put that one in rack years ago) cutting only a front foil for USB 3.0 port. Fits almost 1:1, You only need to modify 2011 case a little bit. For my private use, okay

So no wireless, but on eth10 I attached hap, and now hap AC Lite waiting for hap AC (also waiting, but that is another story). I have to say, apparently 3011 will be single band so one of thoose hap ac's attached to 3011 is a powerful combo for advanced home use. I feel no need for 3011 with wlan any more

Not only the case, but also miniPCI Wi-Fi module installed as well as two MIMO-capable antennas. Of course, I can buy RM version, but the case is too long, and it's inconvenient to buy additional parts from different sellers to set up Wi-Fi. Also, buying some other AP and connecting it to 3011-RM is not a good solution for me. So I'm waiting for a desktop version.

Heey, MikroTIK guys, do you hear our tears? We wanna buy RB3011UiAS-2HnD-IN . How long does it remain to wait?

Personally, I want dual-band support, and it looks like a hAP ac (non-lite) is going to be the device for me, at which point I'll be retiring the wlan1 interface of my trusty 2011. Of course everyone's got their own needs....

Quite a good choice. But, it depends... Yes, indeed, everyone has some particular needs.
As for me, I prefer buying products that combine good CPU performance (at least, 2 cores), Gigabit Ethernet LAN for a small network and basic 300 Mbit/s Wi-Fi . I'm not keen on "bleeding edge" wireless systems, because they are sensitive to a smallest misconfiguration issues and often possesses performance degradation.
RB3011UiAS-2HnD-IN is the best choice for me. And it's hard to realize that it still isn't marketed.

By the way, you can't. It's impossible to add WiFi to rackmount version because of missing PCI-e.

Thank you! This statement seems to be the other one reason to wait for RB3011UiAS-2HnD-IN.
But waiting is so exhausting. I'm loosing my appetite. And sometimes I can't sleep because sometimes I think that theoretically RB3011UiAS-2HnD-IN release can be cancelled. I'm afraid of it most of all.

Perhaps, you're right. I'd better visit my local psychotherapist than keep on waiting.
Sadly, but the initial inspiration doesn't seem to be viable anymore. You can go daft waiting for an awesome product to be released... Sad, but true.

Unfortunately it is the way of life with mikrotik since I have ever remembered. There is only one answer to all "when" questions (really seen to be written by normis): "when it will be then it will be". Take your pills and live with it.

In case your distributor has too long waiting time for the mikrotik waiting pills, why not to shorten the waiting with the pils till the pills will be available?

Also the waiting will be shorter if you will be waiting fast.

A work mate has a similar response to regular requests for a finish date to his projects. His work is always exceptional and worth the wait. (although he is close to the expected date on most occasions)

- RB3011 ac: 2 switches, no go

So it has to be the CRS ac version (triple chain).

But it's too powerful without 2x SFP+ (routing)

Maybe I'll hold on via wAP ac.

Of course, SFP+ means at least 5GBase-T next year. It might be already obsolete then.

Once again, CCR1009-4G would be the immediate way, if it could single stream at 5Gbps. I don't have much hope then.

RB3011UiAS-RM is too big.
RB850Gx2 do not have enough ethernet ports. At least 8.
CRS's performance is poor.
CCR1009-8G-1S-PC is too expensive.

My prediction, based on logic jumps so take it with a grain of salt.

Mikrotik will skip the 3011UiAS-2HnD-IN and release TWO updated product lines.

- Updated CRS line with the new Qualcom IPQ 40XX. This will also replace the 2011/3011 line.
- Updated DIY/Integrated/Home & Office platforms using the Qualcomm IPQ 40XX and supporting Wave2 802.11ac

I was surprised to see the announcement of the 3011 using the same form factor as the 2011 when the CRS's design was so much newer and better.

Mikrotik is aiming at soho market segment by these devices so it cannot be fat and cannot have two rows of ports and cannot be gray. Anyway, the 2011 "in" enclosure is most pretty case that mikrotik has ever done. That's my own personal opinion.
Update by more powerful and cheaper cpu is necessary and adding 2hnd plus 5acT at once is a must for soho segment.

Everybody's taste is different!

I much prefer the more professional looking CRS. We do not get the same questions and complaints from business clients now we use CRS that we did with the 2011.

Look: so many guys crying and asking for the device to be released. And rumors are crawling that the model might be skipped. It sounds disgusting...
The model is very, very, very attractive. If one can't understand this, then it sounds pitiful. What else can I say?

Yes, I can confirm that many our customer inquiring this version RouterBoard or version with dual Wi-Fi RB3011UiAS-5HacT2HnT. Its pity that Mikrotik has so closed policy and hasn't any roadmap for this or future years..

I have been told that the success of the RB3011UiAS-RM has left the ARM chipset in short supply. So Mikrotik is focusing on building and shipping the RB3011UiAS-RM using these parts. And will introduce the RB3011UiAS-2HnD-IN next year when they can source enough chipsets.

I would like to see it to ship with an additional miniPCI-e slot and knock outs for additional antennas. That would keep the cost down and allow us to add a second radio.

The current hardware supports hardware encyption.

The current software RouterOS v6 does not.

HW encryption on the Qualcomm IPQ processor used in the RB3011 requires a newer Linux kernel than what is used in RouterOS v6.

- wAP AC+ with mmips dual core CPU and ability for CAPsMAN to encrypt tunnelled traffic (using mmips HW crypto)

Personally I like seperating my wireless from my routing devices so that I can place my router in my utility room and my wireless more centrally in my house, though I understand that's not what everyone wants.

RB3011 + WAPAC or HAPAC are a nice combination. The RB1100AHx4 also looks good on paper. I haven't gotten to play with one yet...

I realise it's an old thread.

But RB3011UiAS-RM configured as CAPsMAN, together with WAP AC as CAP, would be a far better solution than RB3011UiAS-2HnD-IN, IF it had been created and as people expected.

I arrive at the above conclusion based on the capability of RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN and WAP AC (i.e. the dual RBwAPG-5HacT2HnD). I own both devices.

I don't understand this step about 4011, since fccid made it public - many resourses already made review, publish photos and some tech specs, based on photo and fccid leaks. It's not secret anymore.

Mikrotik requested specific parts (schematics, operation description, block diagram) to remain confidential. and they still are.
on the other hand, it is possible that the outside design is not final.

Afaik, if you made any changes in already certified device - this device willl be different and not certitifed. So punishment will arrive from goverment regulator in this case.

Just to be clear - possible tech specs and block diagram can be recovered from photos (already recovered and published - and everyone who can use google can easily find it).

Such model is not planned. I will close this topic now. When we have another device in place of that, we can make a new topic about it.
