How to isolate all ports?

Wed Apr 06, 2016 1:37 pm

Hello,

In block diagrams all RB's have ports in switch(s).
for example: http://i.mt.lv/routerboard/files/RB3011 ... 123613.png
This is default hardware configuration, or this diagrams actual only if i set "Master Port" on interface?
And if i no set "Master Port", all ports completely isolated in L1/L2-layer?

for default all single port are isolated from eachother with all levels

If this is true, then why Mikrotik do not use ONE switch for all ports?

And why Mikrotik do not use switch for some CCR models?

Diagram shows switch chip and that those ports CAN be configured in switch groups. How you configure router is up to you.

All switch chip ports share single line to CPU, which leads to lower total throughput in L3 routing, that is the main reason why high end models do not have switch chips. If you want switch buy CRS.

No, in this diagram we see TWO line to CPU (one line to each core) for each switch chip:

IPQ8064_.png
but, in this diagram we really see ONE line to CPU for switch chip:
http://i.mt.lv/routerboard/files/CCR100 ... 140835.png

why in CCR you did not use 4 lines for switch chip?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Qualcom and tile are two completely different CPUs.
