RB2011 series epidemic

Mon May 30, 2016 5:28 pm

Hi All,

In the last two weeks there has been three RB2011 series routers running ROS 6.35.2 dead. The symptoms:
1. If you plug a living ethernet cable to ports 1-5, the LED of port is flashing
2. The ports 6-10 are totally silent
3. The display is lighting fully white.
4. There is no beeps from the beeper
5. The reset button and hole are useless
6. The USB console port is inactive

I have no more idea to rise up these routers. Does anybody experienced same problem and have any solution?

Thanks in advance,
Peter

Did you try Netinstall? I'd suggest writing an email to support on this one.

Usually I have no problem with netinstall, but with these routers there in not any vital sign from them neither from USB the console ports nor the beeper. I tried to power up the routers during I press the reset button (or use screwdriver in the reset hole) without any success.

Same here. Two RB are dead. Today RB2011L-IN and yesterday RB2011UiAS-RM.
Maybe on high load this symptom occurs ? On rosinfo stats on ALL interfaces inn vlan trunk are high load, and finally the RB is dead.

Please submit these units to RMA for warranty repair. Let me know if you already have done it, and if yes, tell me the Serial Number so I can track the progress of these devices.

I've had two of these in the last year (on a volume of a dozen approximately). Each time I contacted support and it ended up with a RMA. It's not a new problem, the first one i got with this problem was about 18 months ago.

Is it possible to fix this without sending it to RMA?

It was a number of months ago, but I had similar after/during a firmware update. As I recall, it was 6.35.something except I lost ports 1-5.. Thought a firmware updated corrupted so I used the serial console to erase the NAND.. Bad mistake, ports 1-5 were dead, unable to Netboot..
