BIDI (WDM single fiber) SFP Transceiver

Thu Jun 16, 2016 11:52 am

Hello,
I would like to use Mikrotik routerboards on a Prysian Verticasa infrastructure, that delivers single fiber per Customer.
According to   http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Supported ... scurrently
there are several BIDI WDM supported, but only single mode.
Is there any Multi-Mode WDM SFP supported? Any testing performed?

Thank you in advance for any comment

I think you can't do WDM over multimode .... since multimode does reflects signals back to the source.

Thank you for your reply.
Looking on the Net is possible to find some articles referring to WDM on multimode fiber ... http://fiberoptical-blog.blogspot.it/20 ... loyed.html
but most of them, in effect, must be used in single mode cables.

One more question ...
Is there a way to use CWDM or DWDM with WDM SFP transceiver?
In this way it could possible to use an optical splitter among the "access switch" and Customers to be served.
To better explain, let consider two scenarios:
1) Six Customers to be connected to a swtich with a single fiber each, without optical splitter
It is required a switch with 6 SFP slot and (6x2=) 12 transceiver: 6 on the swtich, 6 on Customer's router.
2) Six Customers to be connected to a swtich with a single fiber each, with optical splitter
In this case, it is required a swtich with only 1 SFP slot and 7 transceiver: 1 on the swtich and 6 on Customer's router

Is it possible CWDM or DWDM on BIDI transceiver that transmit/receive at given wavelenght (eg. 1550/1310nm, for the 6C-WDM-0210BSD)?

Thanks
Rgds
