RouterOS and two SIM

Sat Jul 02, 2016 10:15 am

Good afternoon.

I am interested in the solution with two SIM. Found Alix board , ALIX.6F2 model. When installing a card 3G modem and two SIM cards , RouterOS support switching between SIM-card ? Is it possible to configure switching from one operator to another in the event of a connection failure or signal drop ?

The RB953GS-5HnT-RP has two SIM slots: http://routerboard.com/RB953GS-5HnT-RP
There doesn't appear to be anything documentation on how to use boards with dual-SIM slots.

The Alix 6F2 has only one SIM slot:

And yes, the RB953 has 2 slots, one for each miniPCIe slot, so you need 2 modem cards to use both slots, one for each modem card.
They are not dual SIM, but dual PCIe with SIM slot. And here, of course, you can switch between operators, since each card appears as a separate network interface. But again, you need 2 PCIe cards.

For dual SIM operation would need some kind of modem card with 2 SIM, since it is the modem that needs to support 2 cards, not the board.
