Fri Jul 08, 2016 7:50 pm

Hello,

We purchased a RB3011UiAS-RM

In Quick Setup Guide i see:
Powering
.....
A 110/220V PSU and a PoE injector is included

but, i cannot find any POE injector in a box...
Why?

by routerboard.com specs the 3011 only includes a Power Adapter, no poe injector as most rackmount RB's.

That's true, but the current version of the Quick Start Guide does indeed say that PoE injector is included. I believe that is just a typo.

Anything 24v passive such as the MT gigabit one and UBNT ones.

You mean this one: RBGPOE-CON-HP - MikroTik 48 to 24V Gigabit PoE Converter

I'm asking because I have a 802.3af/at injector and it doesn't work. I tried crossover cable too - the router shuts down on normal cable or doesn't do anything if i use crossover cable.

Be careful trying as you may fry the PoE-IN...

This is the Gigabit Passive PoE injector I was referring to:

So you are connecting a 48v power supply to a router that requires 24v? Why are you expecting it to work when it's clearly not going to?

You have been told 3 times already that the RB3011 requires a 24v power supply like the adapter that is included with it provides. You can buy a PoE adapter if you like such as this https://mikrotik.com/product/RBGPOE however you MUST use the 24v PSU supplied with the router to do this.

PoE is not simply PoE.

Mostly because I have a lot of other devices that use 802.3af/at even though their power adapters are not 48V. What I was looking for was failover power for the router so I guess I need to buy that adapter from 48v to 24v since this device is not 802.3af/at compliant(that's the part I've missed).

So far I've only used poe on Mikrotik ap's and those worked powered by a 802.3af switch, I assumed this one does to, my bad :)
