What hardware for gigabit WAN @home?

Sun Sep 18, 2016 2:26 am

Looking for new routing hardware to handle a gigabit wan connection in a home environment, with maybe up to to concurrent devices. Standard stuff, Netflix, torrenting, online games, VOIP, web browsing, etc often concurrent.

VPN would also be done directly on each device.

I have used pfsense before. I'd rather use a lower wattage hardware solution instead of old PC hardware, and all the embedded boards I've seen on the x86 side look like they top out at 600mbit and peg the cpu.

Is there any low priced Mikrotik product that would do the job? Already have an external AP do really just looking for a router.

Ccr1009. Everything cheaper will be some compromise with not being able to fully use your link under some conditions.
