1 Gbit/s of EoIP throughput needed => which hardware?

Mon Nov 14, 2016 6:47 pm

Hello,

I have 4 smaller sites, which have some local systems that need layer 2 connectivity to a main site. Therefore I need routerboards which can handle 1 Gbit/s of EoIP traffic (without any IPSec). Which hardware do you recommend for
- the 4 smaller sites?
- the 1 main site?

What about
- 5 pieces of ?RB3011UiAS-RM?
- 5 pieces of RB750Gr3?
- 5 pieces of RB850Gx2?
- 5 pieces of CCR1009-8G?

Regards
Michael

Re: 1 Gbit/s of EoIP
I don't think you are going to find any Mikrotik hardware/motherboard that can handle that kind of a CPU load.
I can't even get 300 meg EoIP on any Mikrotik products and I have tried many times.
I would guess/try an Intel 3 GHz or faster Xeon based motherboard with lots of CPU cache running ROS x86. You will need one on both sides of the EoIP tunnel.

CCR1009 do it. I did the test in my MUM presentation Paris France 2016.

We have CCR1009 and CCR1036 doing 1gbit EoIP throughput.

How many layer 3 hops does your EoIP traffic traverse through ?
What do you get on a UDP btest through your EoIP tunnel ?
