Setting CPU-frequency on RB532

Wed Dec 19, 2007 7:44 pm

Hi!

Ive searched thru the manual and the forum and surprisingly i didnt find any post about how to change the cpu-frequency or problems doing so. But I have an issue with this and it is than when i run set cpu-frequency=399MHz first and print the config it will say 399MHz, a reboot now will set it back too 266MHZ so i run keep-frequency to save it and than reboot.

After a couple times of doing this im still at 266MHz but the safe-mode cpu frequency is set too 399MHz.

I did this when i purchased a bunch of 532 when they was released, but I cant remember what magic trick i did at that time to get the CPU running at 399MHz. There is something telling me that I physically needed to reset the power tho get it saved correctly.

Anyone know?

Stig

BTW: Running 3.0RC13

AFAIK only the RB532r5's will run at 399mhz. The older ones will run at 333mhz max.

Make sure you do keep-frequency after you set the frequency and it should save.
If it's still giving you trouble, you can try setting it through the bios using a serial cable when the routerboard boots.

OK, the trick is to set u - CPU mode to 1 - power save.
If you have it set to 2 - regular it won't allow you to save any other frequency than 266 MHz

There is other trick :))
Of course 399MHz work only on RB532r5.
-go to BIOS
- change freq.
- exit
- power cycle
- go to BIOS again
- keep freq.
- exit
