RB493 as bridge causing packeting loss

Thu Nov 27, 2008 3:43 pm

I have a RB493 and when I configure it as a bridge (only configuration is commands shown below) it drops anywhere from 5 to 30% of the packets passing through it. Sometimes the below message is also displayed in my windows ping:
reply from 192.168.35.3: bytes=1200 - MISCOMPARE at offset 959 - time=2ms TTL=64

When I replace it with another RB493 with the same config and all the cables in the same ports, everthing works fine.

I have done system reset and started from scratch, etc...
I have tried this running ROS v3.10 and v3.1344

Anyone else seen something like this?

-------------config---------------
/ interface bridge
add name="bridge1" disabled=no

/ interface bridge port
add interface=ether1 bridge=bridge1 disabled=no
add interface=ether2 bridge=bridge1 disabled=no
add interface=ether3 bridge=bridge1 disabled=no
add interface=ether4 bridge=bridge1 disabled=no
add interface=ether5 bridge=bridge1 disabled=no
add interface=ether6 bridge=bridge1 disabled=no
add interface=ether7 bridge=bridge1 disabled=no
add interface=ether8 bridge=bridge1 disabled=no
add interface=ether9 bridge=bridge1 disabled=no

Never seen that. Try slowing the clock on the CPU in the BIOS (really should only affect 493AH, but it's worth a try). You can also slave the ports together on the 493 and a switch chip in hardware bridges the packets for you.
