RB433 extremal temperature test 8)

Fri Nov 28, 2008 4:55 am

Hello to everybody!

I have some good news.

We are small Canadian company making access control electronic systems for army, government and for civil organisations as well.
As we have some special equipment to test our hardware to ensure its quality and reliability, our boss decided to test one of MT RBs the same way. :)
We are going to use some of these boards for our network outside.
There is the possibility to have the temperatures down to -35C during winter time in our region.
We put the RB433 inside the camera, powered, connected it to LAN and applied -40C for >3 hours.
Results of the test have appeared very optimistical: RB433 was living all the time, we did not even see any chages in time of reply for ping test.
:) Bravo Mikrotik!

RB433 extremal temperature test 8)

Fri Nov 28, 2008 3:41 pm

Hi!

Yesterday we received from Xagil Communications 10 more MTs RB450. Would it make sense to do the same test for one of them? I guess it's made of the same quality components...

It would be interesting to know how far down can it go :)

It hit -30ºF (-34ºC) about 01:00 and did not get any warmer for most of the day. We currently have 3 433/AH's deployed around the area as AP's and some couple dozen 411's and none seem worse for the cold. Much better than the 532's, which seemed to have problems below about -20ºF.

The real test will come in January when some areas within our service see days on end of -40º and lower.

It's great to hear that. Wow, Iron range - probably the harshest place for a RouterBOARD so far :)

We were lucky and it only got to -2f this morning (-19c). People in the northern part of our state really got extreme cold. Happens every winter for a couple of spells.
