Prediction - Mikrotik CPE with integrated antenna

Tue Jul 21, 2009 3:30 am

Given that Mikrotik now own a plastic prototyping setup, many people have been whinging about Nanostations being so cost effective but not running RouterOS/supporting Nstreme and the direction Mikrotik seem to be taking recently I feel pretty confident in predicting that we will soon see an integrated CPE from Mikrotik. I just hope it is a 802.11a unit!

What does everyone else think ?

and is this something WISP's want ?

Easy! We can hack the Mikrotik office wifi and enter to Normis computer because he always have this new toys! xD

The Rb750 is very cheap.. but no wifi!

My vote is for a PowerStation type of device. Nstreme is for long distances and we need high gain for long distances.

I hope it happens soon. I have cut my MT purchases for a hotel install from:
RB433, RB411A, 2xR52H
down to a RB450 + 2 bulletHP
So MT is loosing out on the wireless portion of my installs.
Wisp clients are the same, I switched from 411 + R52 to nanostation (+ RB450 for some customers).

Its not just about cost! I like the hardware too, it is easy to install, reliable and no LMR!. I can do an install in 1/3 the time with a bullet. Like others I just wish it ran MT. I would probalby even pay a $20 -$30 premium to order the UBNT or similar hardware with MT preloaded.

Any chance of a UB/MT partnership on this front?
