Is 3G router real with Microtik?

Sun Jul 26, 2009 11:34 am

I am running 3G PCMCIA Option Globetrotter series NL on the PC running LINUX. As there is a lot of overhead I decided to evaluate router OS Mikrotik. Version 3.27 does advertise support of 3G cards. Unfortunately I did not get it working. I suppose cards which communicate over serial or USB port should, but 3G PCMCIA Option Globetrotter series NL which requires nozomi and gcom support does not. I was not able to locate neither nozomi and gcom. Is this the reality?

Advice to use another interface card is fine, but not my way :) .

I have used PC card based devices from Verizon in a router OS box..

NOTE the PCI to PCMCIA (PC Card) adapter MUST supported...

I use rhe Ricoh based adapter from SIIG.. (works fine)

I am running a sprint 598U card in the router I am working on as I type this,,

I do get an occasional tower bounce, but is is usualy hours inbetween, and re connects in about 3 seconds,,
I have static IPs from sprint, so I can use static entries to the VPN if one is needed...

(Yes I changed out the card that was bouncing every 2.5 Min)..
