Home solution?

Thu Jul 30, 2009 12:59 am

Hi.
I'm going to use microtick RB for my home solution. Currently i have about 3 PC's and about 5 wireless devises, so my ASUS w500 work to slow for me.
What i want:
RB493AH + Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN + some 1Gbps switch(for my LAN infrastructure).
What do you think about this solution? Is it possible to do?

of course. just be careful with that intel card, i don't think RouterOS supports it. You need something that has an Atheros chip inside.

also why do you need that switch? your RB493AH will have 9 ethernet ports.

i also think about 433AH or UAH(but i don't know if i need USB), i that case i need switch.
so, where i can get sollution for intel card?(i have that card from my old notebook, so i don't want to buy another one)
and what about RouterOS? it some kind of linux-based OS?

RouterOS is a linux based OS that comes preinstalled on RouterBOARD devices. Intel cards are not supported if they don't use the Atheros chipset, and there is no solution but to find another card
